There are 26 acting positions in public service agencies, according to Public Service Minister Jennifer Westford.
She made this disclosure in the National Assembly on Thursday, in a written response to a question posed by AFC MP Sheila Holder on the present number of acting positions across the public service. According to Westford, confirmation of persons holding such positions is based on performance and qualification.
In response to an unrelated question posed by Holder, Westford stated that travelling allowances for public servants which have remained unchanged since 1995 will be reviewed this year.
Holder also queried the utilisation of contract workers as against fixed establishment workers but Westford explained that the Public Service Commission is responsible for the appointment of pensionable employees. She said employment of all other categories of workers fall under the ambit of the Public Service Ministry.
