Junior player Krystal Sukra highlighted Friday’s opening day’s play of the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) sponsored lawn tennis tournament at the GBTI Sports Club’s courts, Bel Air Park.
The tournament got underway immediately after Friday’s opening ceremony and the national junior player Sukra scored an impressive win over Guyana Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA) executive member Grace Mc Calman in a women’s singles encounter.
Sukra won the first set 6-2 and was leading 2-0 when Mc Calman retired injured.
And, in a men’s singles encounter experience prevailed over youth with Carlos Adams defeating Saevion David Longe 6-2 6-3.
Meanwhile, a marathon match between Mario Niamatalli and Henk Wilkinson ended with a well deserved
6-2 3-6 6-1win for Niamatalli.
