Dear Editor,
The findings of the CADRES survey that the government is better at improving infrastructure as opposed to tackling corruption, crime, creating better employment opportunities and keeping inflation under control are some of things that we are already aware of and which the survey simply confirms.
It is not surprising that the PPP/C like other Caribbean leaders takes such a negative view of these surveys regardless of who conducts them, especially when their weaknesses are exposed.
To simply brush off such surveys as bogus is inappropriate and does not wash with those who understand that their purpose is to give us, the public, an indication of the moods and feelings which currently prevail and should in no way be seen as a personal attack.
Political parties can and do use such information for self-analysis and can conduct their own surveys if they feel that the information from such surveys is inaccurate. However, if they do they must be prepared to make their detailed methodology available for public scrutiny as CADRES says it can.
Yours faithfully,
Bernard Ramsay
