Please permit me to correct the text of the penultimate paragraph in the letter, to the editor penned by me, which was published in your Saturday, June 12, 2010 issue of the Stabroek News under the title ‘Gecom spared no effort to motivate all eligible registrants to register.’
Regrettably, this paragraph states, inadvertently, “It must be noted that a registrant could be sanctioned for failing to uplift his/her ID card.” Instead the text should have read “It must be noted that a registrant cannot be sanctioned for failing to uplift his/her ID card.”
The publication of this correction would ensure that all concerned are informed accordingly.
