As part of the Road Improvement and Rehabilita-tion Programme funded by the Inter-American Develop-ment Bank (IDB), a total of 18.7 kilometers of roads will be constructed and rehabilitated in East and West Canje, Region Six, the Government Information Agency (GINA) reported.
It stated that according to a press release from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, 11.7 kilometres of road will be rehabilitated using asphalt concrete while an additional seven kilometres of new DBST surface road will be constructed in East Canje from Gangaram to Harmony.
In addition, eight bridges will be constructed using pre-formed pre-stressed concrete piles, pre-cast concrete deck slabs and pre-stressed concrete sheet piles.
GINA said further that 28 culverts will also be constructed, including seven HDPE pipe culverts and 21 pre-cast concrete culverts.
