The Lions Club of Bel Air has donated a number of bed sets to the St Joseph Mercy Hospital in the wake of the fire that destroyed a large section of the hospital.
In a press release the Club said it has partnered with the hospital for about 14 years to deliver health care to needy persons in Georgetown and its environs. Club President Ricki Ramchand presented the donation which included bed sheets, pillows and pillow cases to hospital CEO Helen Bowman in the presence of Lion Hardevi Parsad and Past President Lion Mohan Persaud.
Also, the lions will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in August and the Bel Air club said it made the donation as part of a project to commemorate this milestone. A special Golden Anniversary Committee chaired by Lion Past District Governor SMV Nasseer of the Lions Club of Bel Air and comprising all Guyana Clubs with Council and Cabinet members has been working on the programme several weeks now.
