The Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) has selected two junior players and a coach to attend a one week youth programme in Turkey in September.
The youth programme will run concurrently with the International Basketball Federation’s (FIBA) congress which will also be held in Turkey from September 4-6.
The basketball players identified to attend the programme are Andrew Williams and Kayla Brusch and the two will be accompanied by local basketball coach Kirk Fraser.
The youth programme commences just ahead of the GABF’s preparations for their international series of games which jumps off in August.
The GABF has a packed international schedule for the summer.
They will play hosts to eight overseas teams from the United States, the Caribbean and neighbouring Suriname.
The visiting teams will participate in a series of games between the senior national male and female teams with the GABF seemingly intent on making early preparations prior to the 2011 season.
