18-year-old Jimol Selby has been found, four days after he went missing from his Kuru Kuru home on the Linden/Soesdyke highway, and was expected to be reunited with his mother last evening.
The teen’s mother, Sylvanna Selby, told this newspaper last evening that her son contacted her yesterday morning after a report about his disappearance was carried in the Stabroek News. The woman said her son related that he went across to the West Coast of Demerara to ink a tattoo for a friend and subsequently became ill and was bedridden.
According to her son, he was unable to contact her since he did not know her new cell number. His cell phone battery subsequently went dead so he was unable to receive calls.
On Wednesday, Sylvanna told this newspaper that she left Jimol and his younger brother at home with his grandmother on Sunday afternoon while she travelled to Georgetown where she works.
The boy then left home and told his grandmother that he was going to ink a tattoo for a customer in the village. His family had not heard from him until yesterday.
