Four Chinese nationals, on attachment to the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) at Skeldon as engineers, were early yesterday morning attacked and robbed by two men and one of the victims injured his legs while trying to escape.
According to the police, an investigation has been launched into the incident, which occurred around 1:30 am yesterday at the victims’ home at No. 79 Village, Corriverton, Berbice. Li Yu, 39, Chen Ming Hou, 35, Pang Jian Peie, 47, and Li Tian Wang, 43, all engineers attached to GuySuCo, were attacked and robbed by the two men, who were armed with a firearm and a cutlass.
The police stated that investigations revealed that the intruders entered the house through an open door and held up the victims. They then ransacked their rooms and took away a total of US$4,100 and three cellular phones.
The police stated that Li Tian Wang managed to escape the ordeal by jumping through a window from the upper flat of the building and injured both of his legs in the process.
He was taken to the Skeldon Hospital where he has been an admitted patient.
