A post-mortem examination (PME) has revealed that Jamal Beete, brother of wanted man Tyrone ‘Cobra’ Rowe, died from gunshot injuries to the head.
Beete, 26, called ‘Radio’, of Curtis Street, Albouystown was discovered dead on the second floor of an unoccupied George Street house on Saturday afternoon. Shortly after his body was discovered, reports had suggested that Beete might have been mistaken for his brother Rowe.
This has since been refuted by relatives who say Beete looked nothing like his 17-year-old wanted brother.
When Stabroek News visited the Curtis Street home yesterday Beete’s mother, Donna, was in deep distress and said she is trying to raise enough money to bury him.
“If I was a woman with money,” Donna said kneeling to the floor, “I swear I woulda bury my son today and let him go rest and done with it.”
Some time on Sunday, Donna recalled, police showed up at her home and informed her that a PME would be conducted on Beete’s body yesterday morning.
The woman said she showed up at the Georgetown Public Hospital at about 6 am and was left to wait for hours.
“After they [police] done cut him and so,” the woman said, “they ain’t even tell me anything…they just leave me there.” Police, according to Donna, have not taken a statement from her and she does not believe they will make a serious effort to investigate Beete’s murder.
“Radio [did not have] a criminal record.
They can’t say he did anything and they don’t have time with him and the fact that he get murdered,” Donna lamented, “all they care about is the other one [Rowe] who they say hot… who wanted.”
When Stabroek News revisited the George Street house on Sunday afternoon the door leading to the second floor crime scene was slightly ajar. Police had made no effort to secure it. The door was left open up to yesterday morning.
Several efforts made to contact Crime Chief Seelal Persaud for a comment regarding this issue were futile.
