GTM gets on board with boxing team for CAC

Guyana Trinidad Mutual (GTM) is the latest company to get on board to assist the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) in sending its nine-man team to compete at the CAC Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico next month.

Marketing representative of the GTM Aneeta Shivprashad presented a cheque of an undisclosed amount to treasurer of  GABA, Dexter Patterson, yesterday at the office of Parliamentary Secretary within the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and GABA president Steve Ninvalle.

Speaking on behalf of the company Shivprashad said that the insurance company is pleased to be contributing to boxing.

She noted that while the company is known mostly for its contribution to cricket, it is also willing to assist with the development of young people and other sports in the country.

She also pointed out that boxing has always brought Guyana great success on the international scene.

President of the GABA Ninvalle said that it was good that another company had come on board to aid the fighters to compete at the championships.

He said that his association remained cautiously optimistic about the entire team representing Guyana in Puerto Rico from July 22-31.

He also thanked the company for their interest in boxing since its contribution will go a long way towards ensuring the boxers’ success.
The team that will be representing Guyana comprises Junior Commonwealth silver medalist Clevon Rock, Herlando Allicock, Dexter Jordan, Ray Sandiford, Bert Braithwaite and Devon Boatswain. Coach Sebert Blake will be accompanying the team while GABA Vice President Maurice Rajkumar will be the manager.
