A miner was shot in the right foot early Monday morning while walking along a trail at Tiger Creek Landing, Puruni.

John Wills, 25, of Helena, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara has been admitted a patient of the Bartica Hospital.

A police press release said that an investigation has been launched into the shooting incident that occurred around 0030 hours.

The investigations revealed so far that Wills was walking along a trail when he was shot. Police made no mention of the gunman or what may have led to the incident.
