Giftland Office Max has donated 17 pairs of warm-up and cricket pants to the Media United team at the company’s headquarters in Water Street.
The company joins other businesses in the corporate community to contribute to the team, which will be playing in the exhibition match against West Demerara’s Mc Gill Superstars in the DJ Stress Twenty20 Cricket Festival at the Guyana National Stadium on July 4.
Marketing Manager of the store Compton Babb said that the company felt privileged to contribute to the Media United team, which is comprised of members from both print and electronic media.
Babb also hopes that this contribution will be a yearly one and the next donation will “be on a wider scale.”
He also wishes that the company will be in a position to give to other sports in which the media team will be participating.
Manager and player of the Media United team Kaieteur News reporter Franklin Wilson expressed the team’s gratitude for the company’s largesse, especially since it means that the unit will be properly uniformed. He also told the company’s representative that playing in these various competitions helps the media operatives to keep fit while coping with the demanding job of being reporters.
He assured the representative that the team will win the match and it will not be intimidated by the opposing team that will have players who have played cricket for a living.
