Dear Editor,
It is with a high level of distaste that I condemn the actions taken against Dr David Hinds at the CBJ International Airport. While David may be an opposition activist no one can question his patriotism, his commitment to Guyana’s welfare, his capacity to empathise with the poor, downtrodden and those to whom injustice has been meted out. Indeed it is the provision of scope for individuals like David to freely and safely indulge in their activism that testifies to democracy in Guyana. On the other hand when such individuals are treated the way David was, one gets the distinct impression that the government seems bent on realizing those pathologies of which its critics accuse it. At the least an apology is owed Dr David Hinds.
Yours faithfully,
Annan Boodram
