Dear Editor,
I live in a road (First Avenue, BB Eccles) which has become a gigantic workshop for some of my inconsiderate neighbours.
If you take a walk down our street you would not believe how comfortable they have become in flaunting their vehicle parts and engines and in their destruction of our environment. There are different parts of machinery on the parapet outside a particular house, and at least four trucks in different stages of disrepair on the right and left hand sides of the road. It doesn’t feel like a residential area where families live, because the whole atmosphere is tainted by the noise of soldering irons being used, a jet spray cleaning engines, and the revving of the same at all hours of the day and night, etc.
The heavy duty trucks have caused permanent damage to our road, and as if that were not bad enough our most recent addition is a bright yellow kobello excavator and a tractor: That’s right, an excavator in our street, being repaired in broad daylight, disregarding the law and regardless of how we, the neighbours, might feel about what they are doing to our environment. As I write this it is half past seven in the morning and a truck is revving up outside, just revving and revving – for what purpose I do not know, but what about us and our environment?
I am appealing to the Chairman at the Eccles/Ramsburg NDC, Mr Alec Khan, to take note of this letter and to inspect our neighbourhood, I am sure he is aware of the problem already and I am also sure that he wouldn’t want to live in such a messed up looking street with so much noise and pollution. We on First Avenue are paying rates and taxes and we expect our environmental rights. as stated on the transports we hold, to be upheld and protected by our local NDC.
Please give us back First Avenue so we can live in peace and aesthetic decency like the folks are allowed to in AA Eccles.
Yours faithfully,
(Name and address provided)
