Giftland Office Max and Farfan and Mendes Limited on Thursday confirmed their sponsorship of the National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF) when they contributed basketball apparel and financial support towards the staging of the fifth annual tournament which will be held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall from June 27 to July 5.
The apparel and cash were presented yesterday to Kurt Wilson, Operations Assistant of Street Solutions, at the business locations of Giftland Office Max on Water Street and Farfan and Mendes on Urquhart Street.
Giftland has again come onboard as sponsors of the event and this time around the company will be promoting their FILA brand by outfitting the tournament MVP with FILA basketball vests, trunks and sneakers.
Giftland will also be providing five new Nike basketballs to be used during the tournament along with the nets for the basketball rings, among other items.
Accounts Supervisor of Giftland, Maltie Naraine, who presented the items on behalf of the company, expressed enthusiasm to be a part of the competition and promised to continue supporting the venture.
Meanwhile, Farfan and Mendes Store Manager Leyland Mingo, has supported the upcoming tournament with the donation of three backpacks and one duffle bag along with a cheque for $20,000.
According to Farfan and Mendes Marketing Manager, Onai Vasconcellos, who was also present at the handing over ceremony, the bags are intended for the tournament MVP and other outstanding players.
The tournament will see teams from the country’s top secondary and tertiary level educational institutions going head- to-head on the basketball court.
The tournament will begin with a march-past and opening ceremony on Sunday and the games will be played from 1.00pm to 8:00pm on weekdays and on weekends at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
