While organisers have not yet chosen the local representative for the Miss Jamzone pageant this year at least one regional participant has already been selected and she is from St Lucia.
The organisers, Hits & Jam Entertainment, said Joyann Biscette will represent that island at the beach pageant billed for this summer.
The 24-year-old St Lucian has described her self as “the epitome of Joy” which incidentally is the origin of her name. Words such as vibrant, dazzling, full of life, captivating and determined, were also used in her description.
The young beauty was born and raised in the exotic tropical paradise and is currently attached to the sales and service department of her country’s tourism industry.
She says her long-term goal is to be actively employed in the tourism industry as an international relations tourist agent since all aspects of her life are essentially linked to tourism and entertainment both of which are aims she fervently strives to achieve.
She enjoys soul, R&B and calypso music and is quite optimistic of her chances of being Miss Jamzone International 2010 and is anxiously making preparations for the event.
Meanwhile, organisers said that plans for the pageant are proceeding smoothly so far.
The line-up of beauties for the pageant are said to include professional models, past and present beauty queens. “These delegates most of whom have never been to Guyana are very to anxious to showcase their country’s rich cultural heritage…,” a release from the organizers said.
Pageant organizers had announced earlier this year the new direction in which the event is going; delegates will be drawn from across the Caribbean region to compete for the crown and the car.
A press release from the organizers had said that the local representative for the pageant will be selected through a ‘reality series’. The participants this year will be shortlisted from successful applications and interviews over the period of a few weeks. According to the organizers, the girls will have to complete various challenges that are aimed at testing their intellectual capacity; fashion and beauty senses; ability to function efficiently under pressure and their overall ability to represent Guyana on the international scene. The Miss Jamzone International Show will be aired weekly on Hits and Jams Television (HJTV) and the National Communica-tions Network (NCN). The public will be allowed to vote in via text messages.
This year Hits and Jams Entertainment celebrates its 10th anniversary and the winners will receive prizes valued at US$15,000 and a whopping US$10,000 in cash.
