Dear Editor,
The scramble is amusing, the enthusiasm misguided, the confidence in achieving some sort of coalition to contest the next general national elections are all false imagery, self created to mislead into believing that a panacea has been found to defeat the mighty PPP come 2011.
The success in Trinidad and Tobago has given more hope amongst the hapless promoters in Guyana, but the principal ingredient as obtained in Trinidad is absent in Guyana and that is, there is no groundswell for a change here as there was in the twin island to get rid of then Prime Minister Manning. In any serious consideration, why would the majority of the electorate want to dump this government, which has performed and produced to a high degree of satisfaction, and when thousands have benefited and become new home owners?
There is no question about rising living standards across the whole of Guyana. Guyanese have become proud once again. They walk with their heads held high. They are no longer sneered at by their fellow Caribbean citizens.
This government is winning the battle of getting Guyanese to forget the stupidity of holding to racial considerations. Instead, they are intent in joining together to build what is theirs to build, that is, a better and stronger Guyana.
Yours faithfully,
David DeGroot
