President’s College (PC) will face off with the undefeated Marian Academy in the under-18 semi-finals of the fifth annual National Schools Basketball (NSBF) Festival which begin from 2pm today at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
The teams advance to the semi-finals following their wins in the NSBF quarter finals on Friday night.
President’s College advanced to the final four by defeating Plaisance Academy 37-28, while Marian Academy cruised into the semi-finals of the under- 18 divisional championships after they booted Guyana Education Trust College from the competition with their 61- 29 blowout victory.
Saints Stanislaus also broke into the semi-finals when they delivered the knockout blow to defeat the School of the Nations 38- 32, dismissing the Nations from the tournament with a winless record.
Also on Friday Kwakwani continued their winning ways by trampling Berbice Combined 57- 37 and New Silver City eliminated Charlestown 45- 27 to get their bite out of the semi-finals pie in their respective category.
Marian’s under-16 squad rallied in the path of their under-18 side as they too won against Trust College to progress to the under-16 semi finals.
Following their win over Bishop’s High in the final first round match on Thursday, Queen’s College bowed out of the competition at the hands of Linden Foundation Secondary, who administered a sound 52- 18 whipping.
Linden Foundation trampled the Government Technical Institute 45-29 on Thursday night will now go into their clash with the University of Guyana (UG) in the Open category semi-finals with back-to-back wins.
Meanwhile, UG gained easy access to the semi-finals after receiving a walkover victory from Bishops High School. This will be UG’s second encounter with Linden Foundation after they came out on top of the latter in their first round match-up.
