The letter by Hazel Woolford in Sunday Stabroek of July 4 (‘Those who chaired panels, made presentations at Institute of Historical Research conference were selected for their academic and professional standing’) contains inaccurate information about me and may cause damage to me. Ms Woolford must correct the mistake, as must Stabroek News.
For your information here is my short bio-sketch. Randy Persaud holds a PhD in Political Science (major in International Relations) from York University (Toronto), where he was also the Assistant Director of the Center for International and Security Studies. He is a tenured Associate Professor at SIS, American University, Washington DC, and was Director of Comparative and Regional Studies, and Interim Director of the Council of the Americas. He has also consulted for the US State Department, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the United Nations. Dr Persaud has delivered academic papers in about twenty countries and he is widely published in academic outlets. He has supervised more than twenty-five postgraduate dissertations or theses. Dr Persaud joined the Office of the President in 2009.
