Kwakwani Secondary’s under-16 and under 18 teams stormed into the finals of the National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF) following wins in the semi-finals Sunday night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Eon Meredith’s 16 points and Leonard Primo’s 12, carried Kwakwani’s under-16 squad to a 41-37 points win against Plaisance Academy.
Meanwhile, Kwakwani’s under-18 team had to fend off a spirited attack from New Silver City for a spot in the under-18 final.
Kwakwani unleashed a shower of three-pointers on the Silver City basket to win the game 39-33 and will now meet Marian Academy in the under-18 final after they trounced President’s College 32-18.
The under-16 final will be contested between Kwakwani and St. Stanislaus College.
St. Stanislaus will also have two teams to the finals after their under-16 team eliminated Marian Academy 36-27 and they pulled off an upset win (31-28)against Government Technical Institute in their Open match-up.
Linden Foundation Secondary is the other team in the Open category after they clinched a 34-33 points victory over the University of Guyana.
