The Ministry of Amerindian Affairs on Tuesday presented a $360,000 solar panel to Wiruni village to help boost electricity production.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs Colin Croal presented the Toshao of Wiruni, Region Ten, Rohan Fredericks with the 130-watt solar panel. According to a Government Informa-tion Agency (GINA) press release Liaison Officer at the ministry Norman Whittaker and Deputy Toshao Leyperth King also attended the brief presentation ceremony.
Fredericks noted that the system will be used to generate electricity for the village’s multipurpose building which boasts a computer centre. He said he appreciated the timely intervention.
According to GINA up to last month the ministry distributed 574 panels to 16 Amerindian communities through the Office of the Prime Minister.
