Dear Editor,
It is with regret I apologise for the emotional pain and psychological stress which I have caused. I had neglected to include the name of Dr. Raquel Thomas, one of the presenters at the third annual conference. She is the Director of the Iwokrama rainforest programme and has continuously promoted extension education.
Secondly, it was definitely a lapse on my part to belittle the academic status of Dr. Randy Persaud by not according him the recognition which he should have been given. It was definitely an oversight on my part. The fact of the matter is that without sufficient knowledge of the credentials of the presenters and exhibitors, the Institute would have shortchanged those participants who saw the attendance at the conference, as compulsory and had actually included it in their budget. But, more particularly those participants who had attended because for them each panel was deemed a refresher course.
Finally, the mission of the Institute is to promote graduate studies in History. Hence, the concerns which Dr. Persaud raised will not be taken lightly. Regrettably, the Institute does not run a distance programme in history via radio, for those persons who live in the hinterland. Thanks for this space, to record my sincere regret and it is my hope that the apology is accepted.
Yours faithfully,
Hazel Woolford
