In the July 7th 2010 issue of SN, there was a news item on page 4 under the headline `Former Land Court Judge Gerald Broomes passes away’.
Mention was made of Mr. Broomes having had the distinction of being one of two trained surveyors to become lawyers with the other being former President Arthur Chung.
From the article, it was only then I learnt of both of them being surveyors before qualifying as lawyers.
Just to get the records straight Mr. Desmond Christian was also a surveyor before qualifying as a lawyer.
Mr. Christian was my personal friend and at the time of his death, he was attached to the DPP’s Chambers.
