The Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU), an affiliate of the Caribbean Public Service Association (CPSA), will host the 40th Annual Conference of the association in Guyana, from today.
The conference begins with a church service this morning at St Andrew’s Kirk. The service begins at 9 am. This will be followed by a brunch at Duke Lodge at 11 am. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 5.30 pm at the National Cultural Centre, a release from the GPSU said.
The CSPA has 17 affiliates in 15 countries. The mission of the association “is to unite public servants across the Caribbean and enhance their capacity and ability to provide quality public services while ensuring that their welfare and rights are respected.” Patrick Yarde, the current President of the GPSU, is also the President of the association, but will hand over the reins to his Jamaican counterpart at the end of the conference on Friday.
