The Alliance For Change (AFC) celebrates the news that UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Guyanese-born Baroness Valerie Amos head of the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs.
In a press release the AFC said Baroness Amos has had a long and distinguished career in public and international service in the UK and elsewhere and has made her country proud of her achievements. Throughout her career, “she has never forgotten her humble beginnings in Guyana, and has, at every opportunity sought to bring her skills and experience to bear to improving Guyana’s development especially in the areas of democracy and the rule of law.”
The party extends best wishes and God’s blessings to the Baroness on her new appointment. “We are confident that she will continue to place humanitarian relief, human rights and justice in Guyana, at the centre of her global activism,” it said.
