PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Exciting West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo warmed up for the upcoming regional Caribbean T20 series with a stroke-filled, unbeaten half-century yesterday.
Playing at the Queen’s Park Oval, the right-hander lashed 66 off just 29 balls with three fours and six sixes, powering Daren Ganga’s XI to 192 for three off their 20 overs in the warm-up match.
Forgotten opener William Perkins, who played a single Twenty20 International for West Indies two years ago, chipped in with a 39-ball 55, including eight fours and one six.
Ganga slammed 56 off 47 balls with six hits to the fence with medium pacer Rayad Emrit a reserve player on the national team, grabbed two for 32. In reply, Justin Guillen’s XI was bowled out for 130 off 20 overs with West Indies A all-rounder Imran Khan cracking 27 off 20 balls, while Nicholas Sookdeosingh scored 24 off 30 balls and Emrit, 21 off 20 deliveries.
The pick of the bowlers for Ganga’s team was Kervon Christmas with four for 23, while Adrian Barath took two for 12. T&T will take today as a rest day before playing their final warm-up match against a National Select XI at the Queen’s Park Oval tomorrow. The Trinidadians are the reigning regional T20 champions and will play in Zone A of this year’s tournament against guest side Canada, Jamaica and Leeward Islands.
