Cabinet has approved a $235.4 million contract for the rehabilitation and construction of roads in Region 10, Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon said on Thursday.
According to the Government Information Agency (GINA), the contract encompasses work in 12 lots in Region 10. Other contracts approved for the public works sector include an $18.9M contract for the rehabilitation of earthen embankment from Wellington Park to Mida, Corentyne, Region 6; a $53.7M contract for the construction of 100 metres of rip rap river defence at Maryville, Leguan in Region3; and a $16.9M contract for the rehabilitation of grouted boulder and gabion slopes between Number 77 Village and Line Path, Corentyne.
Meanwhile, in the housing and water sector, a US$209,000 (or G$42M) contract for the supply of aluminum sulphate for the Guyana Water Incorporated was approved. In the agriculture sector, Cabinet approved a $15.6M contract for the construction of revetment and scour protection at Good Hope, Region 2 and Alness, Corentyne in Region 6. A $15.4M contract was also approved for the construction of embankment and structures at Palmyra, Wakenaam in Region 3.
