An Inspector of the Prison Service was on Thursday remanded to prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court for allegedly forging a Republic of Guyana passport.
Kevin Brown, 33, of Public Road, Kitty, pleaded not guilty to the summary charges of forgery, illegal entry into Guyana and uttering a false document to an immigration officer after acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson read them to him.
Brown denied between June 1, 2007 and July 14, 2010, with intent to defraud, he conspired with others to commit the felony of forgery, by forging a Republic of Guyana passport purporting to show that it was issued to him in the name of Eon Junior Grant, knowing this to be false. He also denied that on June 30, 2010, at Springlands, Corentyne River, he entered Guyana without the consent of an immigration officer. He further denied that on July 14, at Moleson Creek, Corentyne River, he uttered the forged passport which purported to show that it was issued to him in the name of Eon Junior Grant, knowing this to be false.
He was represented by attorney Patrice Henry, who applied for reasonable bail, noting that prior to this incident his client had an unblemished record in the courts.
The magistrate refused bail for Brown and ordered that he return to court on July 28.
