All the ingredient are in place for what is expected to be an action packed day for horse racing fans at the Norman Singh Memorial Turf Club, Silver Park, No. 6 Village West Coast Berbice, today from 1pm.
There will be four feature events with the C class 1,400m event fetching a hefty first place purse of $450,000 for some of the country’s top horses.
Some of the top animals expected to be on show are Annie’s Play Mate, Delmar Gold, The Message, Night Crescendo, Tropical Passion and Top of the Line.
The C and lower, the three-year-old Open, the two-year-old event and the F Class are the other feature races on the card.
The horses classified in the G and H class also have a top billing for that day.
The three-year-old race for horses bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies has a winner’s purse of $330,000 over a distance of 1,600m.
In the two-year-old category, which will feature horses that were bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies, the gallop will be over a distance of 1,000m for $250,000. The F class event will be contested over 1,200m with the winner taking away $240,000.
The winner of the G and H class contest, which will run for 1,200m, will take away $200,000 while in the I and J and lower race, which is another 1,200m affair, the winner is expected to receive $140,000.
A race for I3 maiden non-winners is also carded for the day with a top prize of $130,000, over a distance of 1,100m.
There will be prizes for the top jockeys, trainers and stables on show while the top individual performers will all be presented with trophies from Ramesh Sunich, proprietor of the Trophy Stall in Bourda Market.
