(Trinidad Express) A police constable who attempted to foil a robbery at a fruit stall in Arima was shot and killed by the robber on Saturday but hours later, cops killed the robber in an alleged shoot-out.
PC Elton John, 26, died of gunshot injuries while being treated at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex around 5 a.m. on Saturday. Hours after the incident, a man identified as the suspect who killed John was shot dead during an alleged exchange of gunfire with police in Carapo.
Officers, acting on information, said they intercepted a vehicle at 100 Acres and the suspects opened fire on them, causing them to return fire.
Wendell Daniel was hit and taken to the Arima District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
