Dear Editor,
This week on Girl Talk Programme I heard one of the Facilitators saying that the Mandela Dump site which we so often refer to should not be labelled with the name of such a famous good man. And I am apt to agree as I suspect that we all do so unintentionally (See your Editorial of July 15, 2010 “The big stink“).Whatever the dump site was called before the construction of the road should be its name. It is an insult to associate the stench, filth and untidy site with such an eminent person who successfully fought against apartheid with a price he paid being jailed for over 20 years and a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Let’s stop calling the dumpsite by that name. What about M&TC or just Le Repentir?
Yours faithfully,
