A break in a sewer line occurred at the corner of Carmichael and New Market streets early yesterday afternoon.
However there was no damage to property or injury.
According to the release from the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI), the rupture occurred in a six-inch pressure line and caused damage to the road.
Further, the water company gave an assurance to effect repairs in the shortest time possible.
The release further stated that an investigation would be carried out to determine the cause of the break and that GWI would work towards the area’s sanitisation.
When Stabroek News visited the scene late yesterday afternoon, there were no visible signs of the overflow of sewage.
