The Guyana Association of Scrabble Players will be staging a Junior Scrabble contest for students on August 21 at the Malteenoes Sports Club.

Competition starts at 9.30am. The tournament is open to students between the ages of 11 and 18-years-old and will comprise four rounds, each lasting about an hour with a 30-minute break between the first two rounds.

Participants must bring their school badges to compete. Only the first 30 registrants will be allowed to play and $50,000 in cash and prizes will be up for grabs. The Association said the tournament is part of its agenda to introduce the game in schools.
