After a few golf swings Bishnarine Sanjay Persaud is convinced that he may not compete in the sport, but the Managing Director of Sanjay’s Jewellery, an ardent golf fan has made a commitment to sponsor future tournaments following last Saturday’s Medal Play Classic at the Lusignan Course.

David Harry emerged winner of the Sanjay’s Jewellery tournament defying a strong field and heavy conditions due to recently inclement weather.

He ended with the net 69 from a gross 84 playing off a 15 handicap.

The conditions brought out the best of the players who were forced to maneuver around soggy fairways and damp greens.

Muntaz Hanif continued his impressive showing this season claiming the second position with net score of 71 from a gross 87 playing off a 16 handicap.

Sookdeo Deosarran came in third with net score of 72 from a gross 80 playing off an 8 handicap.

Mohanlall Dinanauth was Nearest to the Pin on hole number 8 for the second successive week.

William Walker, Lusignan Golf Club secretary thanked Sajay’s for sponsoring the competition for a second time this year and stated that he was a true friend of the Club.

The sponsor disclosed that his Birth anniversary will be in October and he is considering sponsoring another tournament to coincide with the anniversary.

Meanwhile, 15 players have already signaled their intention to compete in the Suriname Open next month in Paramaribo.

Among the players listed is the reigning Guyana Open champion Avinash Persaud.
