Almost two weeks have passed since the body of an unidentified man was found floating in the canal between Vlissengen Road and Irving Street close to Church street.
There are suspicions that the man may either be a foreigner or from a remote village in the interior as no one has come forward to identify him.
Police have since released the photograph of the dead man’s face with the hope that someone would come forward but there have been no inquiries at the Lyken’s Funeral Parlour where the body is being stored.
The man who is of African descent was found around 10:50 hrs on July 15 by two boys playing ball.
The man appeared to be in his mid fifties and was clad in cream-coloured chequered pants with a black belt and a pair of Timberland boots. From all reports there were no marks of violence on the body.
