The man found dead on the Amelia’s Ward, Linden Highway on Tuesday has been identified as Jim Ryan Williams of Bendoff, Parika, East Bank Essequibo.
Williams, 26, was identified by his parents at the Wismar Hospital mortuary yesterday.
His mother, Linda Williams told Stabroek News that her son had worked as a farmer at Moblissa on the Linden/Soesdyke highway. She said that he had left home two months ago but she had spoken to him via telephone on Sunday.
She said that yesterday, she received a call from police at Linden asking her to travel there to identify the body. She said that the police told her that it was a co-worker of Williams’ who made the report that he was killed on the highway.
The body of Williams was discovered on the Amelia’s Ward highway at about 3 am on Tuesday. The body was lying in the middle of the road with the head crushed, limbs broken and multiple bruises about the body. It was suspected that he was the victim of a hit and run accident.
Police, when contacted yesterday said that investigations are at a “delicate” stage. st-mortem examination is scheduled for Friday.
