CASTRIES, St Lucia, CMC – All three games in the opening round of the TCL Group West Indies Under-19 One-Day Trophy were washed out yesterday, after heavy rain doused the island leaving venues under water and forcing officials to abandon any hopes of play. The only venue that saw action was the Gros Islet Playing Field but rain allowed all of five balls and three minutes of play before forcing the teams from the field at 9:38 am, with Leeward Islands on three without loss after being sent in by Guyana. With no let up in conditions, officials abandoned play at 11:35 am.
There was no play at Micoud where played was called off at 11:15 am in the encounter between Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica.
At the Dennery Playing Field, Barbados and Windward Islands were also restricted to the pavilion before play was abandoned at 11:45 am.
All teams were awarded a single point.
There is a rest day in the tournament today before the second series of matches bowl off tomorrow.
