A Corriverton resident was sentenced to a year imprisonment by Magistrate Krishendat Persaud yesterday, after he was found guilty of being in possession of a nine millimetre pistol and 15 matching rounds of ammunition
Delon Thompson, 32, of Albert Street, Corriverton will serve a one year sentence on each charge that will run concurrently.
In the Springlands Court, Sergeant Michael Grant led the evidence of two witnesses, including ballistic expert Sergeant Eon Jackson, to prove that on June 9, 2005, Thompson, was driving along his home village at Number 79 Public Road, when police on patrol, observed that he was acting suspiciously. He was stopped and searched and a firearm along with a matching magazine of ammunition was unearthed from his pants’ waist.
He was taken to the Springlands Police Station, where the charges were instituted.
