BUDAPEST, Hungary, CMC – Lewis Hamilton will start fifth in Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix after the Red Bulls took control of the front row with the fastest times in final qualifying yesterday.
Sebastian Vettel claimed pole in one minute, 18.773 seconds with teammate Mark Webber second with a time of 1:19.184.
The 25-year-old Hamilton, the current championship leader, clocked 1:20.499 to book a spot in the third row.
I’m happy with today’s result. Obviously, we’ll have to work hard again tomorrow but, all things considered, it’s a good place for us to be starting from tomorrow,” said the Brit whose paternal parents hail from Grenada.
“We’ll stay focused for tomorrow. I need to get as good a start as I’ve been getting for the past few races, stay clean, get around the first corner and keep moving forwards after that.
“It would be great to make up some places off the grid because it’s very hard to overtake around here. But we’ll do the best job we can. I’m ready for it. Bring it on!”
Hamilton leads the drivers’ standings with 157 points, 14 ahead of second placed teammate Jenson Button who will start down the field at 11th on the grid.
