(Jamaica Observer) Special Corporal Jerome Cummings was killed on Langston Road in St Andrew yesterday morning.
The 32 year old worked at Harman Barracks.
Reports are that about 4:00am he drove home and was opening his grille when armed men attacked him. He returned fire and one of the gunmen was killed. The corporal died at hospital.
Meanwhile, Acting Commandant of the Island Special Constabulary Force James Golding expressed dismay at the killing, stating that it is “another grim reminder of the hostile and challenging environment in which officers of the law have to work and the risks police officers have to face in the performance of their duties”.
“The entire police family is in mourning,” Golding said.
