This Route 50 minibus which was transporting several passengers, including three children, to the airport plunged into a trench along the East Coast Demerara Public Road yesterday where it meets UG (University of Guyana) Road. Other motorists at the scene reported that the minibus was speeding west along the southern carriageway and as the driver attempted to overtake another vehicle he appeared to have lost control of the minibus, sped off the road and into the trench. The incident occurred just before 5pm and no one was seriously injured. When Stabroek News arrived at the scene several minutes after the incident police were not yet present and the victims were removing their luggage from the minibus.
