Venessa Singh of Annandale pleaded not guilty to a simple larceny charge when Magistrate Priya Beharry read it to her at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
The allegation is that on July 29, at High Street, she stole a quantity of clothing and footwear with a total value of $24,440 from the Ashmins Trading Store.
Prosecutor Stephen Telford stated that on the day of the incident at about 16:00 hours Singh went into the store and bought several plastic bowls and picked up the other items on her way out of the store.
He said that the woman was caught as she was leaving by a worker at the store.
She was then apprehended and later handed over to the police.
The magistrate then placed the woman on $25,000 bail and ordered that the case be transferred to Court Three for September 6.
