Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) on Saturday evening captured the inaugural Ram and McRae award for the firm adjudged to have produced the most outstanding financial report for last year.
DDL’s General Manager Loris Nathoo was on hand to receive the award from Robert McRae from Ram and Mc Rae during a special anniversary dinner held at the Marian Academy to celebrate the accounting firm’s 25th Anniversary. The award was launched last October to coincide with the firm’s Silver Anniversary.
DDL emerged as the winner ahead of 17 other companies which were shortlisted for the award. An independent panel chaired by Quincy Bourne and comprising Paul Chan-a-Sue, FCA; Patrick Dial; Nigel Niles and Roubinder Rambarran adjudicated on the winner.
The criteria used to decide on the winner was: “accessibility and timeliness of reporting”, “adequacy of discussion and analysis”, “compliance with accounting standards”, “compliance with regulatory requirements”, “corporate governance disclosures”, “appearance” and “social responsibility and sustainability disclosures”.
