(Trinidad Guardian) A man accused of murdering Diane Williams and her eight-year-old son Shaquille escaped the glare of media photographers on Tuesday as police shielded him from the public by transporting him to court in a heavily-tinted unmarked vehicle.

Shazad Rajack, 22, of San Fernando, appeared in the San Fernando First Court before Senior Magistrate Annette McKenzie, charged with murdering Williams and her son. The 37-year-old and her son, both of whom were HIV positive, were killed last month and their dismembered bodies discarded at the Forres Park dump.

On July 21, scavengers found the body parts in garbage bags. The heads were found buried in shallow graves behind squatter houses in Ste Madeleine.

On Tuesday, eager media photographers and television cameramen gathered outside the San Fernando Magistrate’s Court hoping to capture Rajack being escorted to court. However, that did not materialise.

Rajack was handcuffed and placed in an unmarked heavily-tinted vehicle around 8.30 am and driven from the San Fernando Police Station straight to the cellblock area beneath the courthouse, evading media personnel. Officers later indicated that Rajack was a high security risk.
