Delon King (no age or address given) was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court for stealing over $9M in items from the B&E Supermarket while he was employed there as a security guard.
Magistrate Priya Beharry read the break and enter and larceny charge to which King pleaded guilty.
He admitted that on November 28, 2008, at the Supermarket, he stole a quantity of items with a total value of $9M, the property of Tony Ramkumar.
Prosecutor Stephen Telford stated that King was employed by Ramkumar as a security guard at his supermarket.
He said that on the day of the incident King broke into Ramkumar’s office and then the supermarket and stole the items.
The prosecutor noted that soon after King went into hiding and had been on the run until he was arrested last Friday.
He was then told of the allegation, arrested and later charged.
King stated that he was indeed arrested last Friday.
The magistrate ordered that a probation report be presented to her before she imposes sentencing on King.
King is expected to make another court appearance on August 9 when the report is expected to be presented.
