Miss Trinidad and Tobago Elizabeth Robinson
Elizabeth Robinson considers herself a woman of class, grace and exquisite charm and as a result is confident in her ability to shine at the Miss Jamzone International 2010 pageant.
Born and bred in the twin islands Trinidad and Tobago, Miss Robinson is no stranger to pageantry since she has already secured multiple titles in Trinidad including those of queen in Miss Royal Princess Casino 2010; queen in Miss Tamana 2010; second runner-up in Miss Teen Trinidad and Tobago; and first runner-up in Miss Elegance 2008 and 2009.
Twenty years old, Elizabeth is a highly motivated individual with an avid interest in music. This riveting beauty is also a steel pan and keyboard player. She enjoys swimming, modelling and playing tennis.
Miss Suriname Alcinda Huisden
Representing Suriname in this year’s Miss Jamzone International pageant is 22-year-old Alcinda Huisden. A professional model, Huisden is confident in her abilities to showcase the diversity and beauty of her Dutch heritage. A jovial and euphoric person, she confessed that she is also an animal lover and currently owns seventeen pets inclusive of eleven dogs and a monkey. Miss Huisden enjoys cooking, dancing and singing, and is currently enrolled at a tertiary institution to further her education and eventually realize her goal of being a journalist.
In 2008, Alcinda eventually was placed third runner-up at the Miss Suriname World pageant where she gained an immeasurable amount of experience. The Dutch girl said that she is honoured to be a part of the pageant, and while her intentions are aimed at success, she would find equal pleasure in experiencing Guyanese culture and hospitality as well.
Miss St. Lucia Joy Ann Biscette
Her favourite pastimes are dancing (not professionally) singing calypso and socializing. At 5ft 7 inches, the 24-year-old Biscette said that she is the ideal candidate to represent her country and emerge victorious at this year’s Jamzone international because, “from a tender age my heart has always been set on pageantry and modelling. I see the Jamzone Pageant as an excellent opportunity to fulfil my dreams and showcase my inner beauty. Bold, intelligent, bubbly and sophisticated are the words to describe my personality and characteristics. I am of the opinion that any candidate chosen to represent their country should be endowed with the disclosed qualities.”
Joy Ann brings to the competition pageantry experience from participating in the National Carnival Queen Pageant in 2005 where she emerged the winner. She was also a contestant in the Miss Caravel pageant in St Vincent in 2006 and placed third.
Miss Jamaica Lesa-Gayle Wee Tom
Representing the renowned land of reggae music, Miss Lesa-Gayle Wee Tom is Miss Jamaica. At just 21 years of age Lesa-Gayle ‘Milan’ Wee Tom is no stranger to the limelight as she has built a reputation as an accomplished reality TV actress, model and beauty queen. Lesa-Gayle claimed instant fame in 2008-2009 by appearing as a cast member on BET’s College Hill, a reality show which follows the lives of students at historical colleges. She has also secured several titles in pageantry including first runner-up – Miss Hollywood Teen USA; second runner-up – Miss Jamaica Florida; second runner-up – Miss Miami Tropic; queen – Miss Florida Caribbean; and queen – Miss Jamaica Caribbean World. She also participated in the Miss Caribbean World 2010 pageant.
Her aspiration is to further expand her qualifications and she is currently enrolled as a national honours-roll student on a Barita Scholarship at Florida Atlantic University where she is pursuing a major in broadcast journalism with a minor in tourism/hospitality management. This ambitious young woman also speaks fluent Spanish.
Nikita Archer is Guyana’s representative in this year’s Jamzone International pageant.
This former Bishops’ High School graduate who speaks fluent Spanish, French and Portuguese is currently attached to Queen’s College as a French and Spanish teacher. Twenty-three years old, Nikita is already moving apace on the path to fulfil her goal of becoming an established linguist, and she fervently advocates ‘education’ which she believes is a “process of living and not a preparation for future living.”
In a recent chat with The Scene, Ms Archer described herself as empathetic, flexible and strong in interpersonal skills. She confessed that while she is somewhat of an introvert, her reclusive nature often simulates an air of confidentiality, reliability and a strong sense of self.
This young pioneer is certain that she will whisk away the title of Miss Jamzone International 2010, regardless of the pressure that surrounds being the local ambassador. In a final statement, Nikita explained that in light of the fact that the general public has expressed concern over the integration of Caribbean delegates in this year’s pageant, she intends to proudly and competently display Guyana’s rich cultural heritage while successfully representing her country at the event.
Cinthia Paula
A feisty Latino belle, Cinthia Paula, who has an avid interest in modelling and acting, has confidence that she will walk away the queen at Jamzone International 2010. She hopes one day to fulfil her dreams of becoming a popular talk show host. Cinthia is currently a part of the Producciones Jamicabe Modelling Agency, and has participated in numerous pageants in her homeland, including Miss Teen Dominican Republic and Miss Dominican Republic Carnival Queen.
She believes that “dreams are the touchstones of our character,” and even at this tender age, she has already set her goals and is working fervently towards achieving them.
Je-Meila Ramona Maloney
Je-Meila Ramona Maloney stands proudly as her country’s ambassador in the Miss Jamzone International 2010 pageant.
Je-Meila is currently the Barbados face of the Shabeau Model Search winner and is attached to the Ebony Model Agency, also of Barbados. At the tender age of sixteen, Je-Meila joined forces with a friend and started a youth organization called the ‘Emerging Global Leaders of Barbados,’ that seeks to “empower all young people so as to creatively shape a better tomorrow.”
She was sent by UNICEF Barbados to Chitose City, Japan, to represent the entire Caribbean and Latin America at the J8 Summit in 2008, an annual forum where young people from around the world meet and discuss global issues and share their solutions with G8 leaders and the world community. There she was selected to meet the G8 leaders of 2008 where she was an advocate for the rights of children and other global issues.
Twenty-two-year-old Shari McEwen, a Guyanese-born Antiguan is Miss Antigua in the Miss Jamzone International Pageant.
Shari attended the Antigua State College Advanced Level Department, where she majored in Economics and Sociology.
She currently resides in the United Kingdom, where she is studying for a Bachelors Degree in Finance at Hertfordshire University.
This being her final year of study, Shari has intentions of returning to the Caribbean to be a financial force in a major organization. It is her intention by the age of 30, to own and manage her own financial management company.
Shari has a passion for modeling, a love that intensified after she entered the Miss Trinidad Tots and Teens at age 10. Subsequently she began working with some of Antigua’s premier designers. She was later selected to be the Antigua and Barbuda contestant at the Miss Universe Pageant, 2006.
Miss Antigua attributes her success to hard work, determination and importantly, the love and support of her loved ones.
