A 67-year-old man accused of using threatening language to his wife and daughter and allegedly unlawfully wounding his daughter was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on August 7 at Georgetown, Tekram Boodram made use of threatening language to his wife Sue-Ann Boodram thus resulting in a breach of the peace. On the same day also, Boodram is accused of using threatening language to his daughter Liloutie Boodram as well as unlawfully and maliciously wounding the said Liloutie Boodram.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges of threatening language but guilty to the unlawful assault charge against his daughter when they were read to him by the magistrate.
The accused asked repeatedly to be granted bail but the virtual complainants kept saying to the magistrate, “No don’t give he bail he does always do it.”
By this time the man kept saying to the Magistrate, “Leh meh explain meh self.”
However, neither the virtual complainants nor the defendant was given a further chance to speak but a probation officer was ordered to investigate the matter.
The unrepresented Boodram was later remanded to prison until August 13 for a probation report.
