The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) has selected three women players to participate in the North American and Caribbean Rugby Association (NACRA) Senior Women’s 15-a-side championships in The Bahamas.
The three selected will depart Guyana tomorrow for the championships which commence Saturday.
Guyana was unable to meet the cost of sending a full team but was however, invited to send three of its top players to participate in a Caribbean Select Women’s 15s side which will compete in the tournament.
A group of 26 players have been selected from Guyana, Barbados, Jamaica, Mexico, Bermuda, BVI and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Each participating union has been required by NACRA to provide USD$150 per person and to contribute towards their housing and meals.
The Guyana players selected are Sabola Grey (Women’s Captain – back), Nicole Nero (GFRU Assistant Secretary/Treasurer- forward) and Collette Hope (back).
While in The Bahamas, the players will be exposed to high intensity training, ball handling techniques and will play in three matches; against Canada and a USA Under-20 teams and The Bahamas Women’s National 15s side.
