A man accused of murdering his 74-year-old stepfather, Kenneth Lynch, after a heated argument had ensued between them at their Johanna Cecilia, Essequibo Coast home was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
The allegation is that on August 5 at Johanna Cecelia, Essequibo Coast, Gordon Thomas murdered Kenneth Lynch.
The defendant was not required to plead to the indictable charge of murder when it was read to him by the magistrate.
The unrepresented Thomas was later remanded to prison. His matter was transferred to the Suddie Magistrate’s Court for report on August 16.
Police in a press release had stated that they were investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Lynch “who was allegedly beaten by his stepson at his residence.” The release said that the wounded man was admitted to the Suddie Hospital and later transferred to the Georgetown Hospital where he succumbed.
